Department of Pharmacy Practice

The concept of pharmaceutical care transformed the pharmacy profession to be more accountable in the patient care to ensure that a patient achieves positive outcomes from drug therapy. To promote safe and rational use of medicine, the discipline of pharmacy practice needs to take into consideration various issues such as the prevailing policies with in the country, economic, social and cultural context of the population, as well as the ever-changing needs and expectations of the society.

The department of Pharmacy Practice is dedicated to expand pharmacy practice services to play important role in health care system at hospital setup through well programmed pharmaceutical care services, and was established in the year 2008 with Pharm D program and PG program in pharmacy practice 2013. Pharmacy Practice department has MoU with Rural development trust (RDT) hospital, Bathalapalli.

The department of Pharmacy Practice collaborated with a multi-specialty hospital corporate hospital: Fortis hospitals, Fortis health care limited, Mumbai for the advance clinical pharmacy teaching, learning and practice process from 2015.

ISPOR India-AP regional chapter was approved and established in 2012. The chapter focuses on developing a new approach of pharmacy practice education from a regular curriculum vise teaching to actual health care orientation/ health outcome-based training to maintain and approve patient’s quality of life and adhere to rationality use of medications. The branch adages constant and novel contribution towards the evidence-based learning, teaching, practice and research in pharmacy profession with global standards. ISPOR-RIPER student chapter was established in 2014.

Department of Pharmacy Practice functioning with its institutional Drug Information Centre (DIC) and Poison and Drug Information Centre (PDIC) at RDT Hospital with globalized software MedicinesCompleate (Royal Pharmaceutical Society RPS-UK). Since from the inception of the department, RIPER – PDIC Bulletin will be publishing biannually.
