BOARD OF STUDIES  

Composition 

  1. Head of the Department concerned (Chairman). 2. The entire faculty of each specialization. 
  2. Two subject experts from outside the Parent University to be  nominated by the Academic Council. 
  3. One expert to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor from a  panel of six recommended by the college principal. 5. One representative from industry/corporate sector/allied  area relating to placement. 
  4. One postgraduate meritorious alumnus to be nominated by  the principal. The Chairman, Board of Studies, may with  the approval of the principal of the college, co-opt: 

(a) Experts from outside the college whenever special courses of  studies are to be formulated. 

(b) Other members of staff of the same faculty. 

Term : The term of the nominated members shall be three years. Meetings : The Board of Studies shall meet at least twice a year. Functions: 

The Board of Studies of a Department in the college shall: 

  1. prepare syllabi for various courses keeping in view the  objectives of the college, interest of the stakeholders and  national requirements for consideration and approval of the  Academic Council; 
  2. suggest methodologies for innovative teaching and  evaluation techniques; 
  3. suggest a panel of names to the Academic Council for  appointment of examiners; and 
  4. coordinate research, teaching, extension and other  academic activities in the department/college.

ACADEMIC COUNCIL COMPOSITION 

  1. The Principal (Chairman) 
  2. All the Heads of Departments in the college 
  3. Four teachers of the college representing different categories of  teaching staff by rotation on the basis of seniority of service in the  college. 
  4. Not less than four experts/academicians from outside the college  representing such areas as Industry, Commerce, Law, Education,  Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, etc., to be nominated by the  Governing Body. 
  5. Three nominees of the university not less than Professors. 6. A faculty member nominated by the Principal (Member Secretary). 

Term : The term of the nominated members shall be three years. Meetings : Academic Council shall meet at least twice a year. Functions of the Academic Council: 

The Academic Council shall have powers to: 

  1. Scrutinize and approve the proposals with or without modification of  the Boards of Studies with regard to courses of study, academic  regulations, curricula, syllabi and modifications thereof, instructional  and evaluation arrangements, methods, procedures relevant thereto  etc., provided that where the Academic Council differs on any  proposal, it shall have the right to return the matter for  

reconsideration to the Board of Studies concerned or reject it, after  giving reasons to do so. 

  1. Make regulations regarding the admission of students to different  programmes of study in the college keeping in view the policy of the  Government. 
  2. Make regulations for sports, extra-curricular activities, and proper  maintenance and functioning of the playgrounds and hostels. D. Recommend to the Governing Body proposals for institution of new  programmes of study. 
  3. Recommend to the Governing Body institution of scholarships,  studentships, fellowships, prizes and medals, and to frame regulations  for the award of the same. 
  4. Advise the Governing Body on suggestions(s) pertaining to academic  affairs made by it. 
  5. Perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Governing  Body.

Conposition 

  1. Constitution of Governing Body of Private /Self Financing  College/Constituent College run by Trust/Society 

Functions of the Governing Body: 

Subject to the existing provision in the bye-laws of the respective college and  rules laid down by the state government/parent university, the Governing  Body shall: 

  • Guide the college while fulfilling the objectives for which the college  has been granted autonomous status. 
  • Institute scholarships, fellowships, studentships, medals, prizes, and  certificates on the recommendations of the Academic Council Approve new programmes of study leading to degrees and/or  diplomas. 
  • All recruitments of Teaching Faculty/Principal shall be made by the  Governing Body/state government as applicable in accordance with  the policies laid down by the UGC and State Government from time to  time. 
  • To approve the annual budget of the college before submitting the  same at the UGC. 
  • Perform such other functions and institute committees, as may be  necessary and deemed fit for the proper development of the college

FINANCE COMMITTEE: 

Composition of Finance Committee: 

  1. The Principal (Chairman). 
  2. One person to be nominated by the Governing Body of the college for a  period of two years. 
  3. Finance Officer of the affiliating University 
  4. One senior-most teacher of the college to be nominated in rotation by  the principal for two years. 

Term : Term of the Finance Committee shall be three years. Meetings : The Finance Committee shall meet at least twice a year 

Functions of the Finance Committee: 

The Finance Committee shall act as an advisory body to the Governing  Body, to consider: 

  1. Budget estimates relating to the grant received/receivable from UGC,  and income from fees, etc. collected for the activities to undertake the  scheme of autonomy; and 
  2. Audited accounts for the above.

IQAC COMMITTEE 

 FUNCTIONS 

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for  various academic and administrative activities of the institution; Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to  quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge  and technology for participatory teaching and learning process; Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other  stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes; 
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher  education; 
  • Organization of inter and intra-institutional workshops, seminars on  quality-related themes and promotion of quality circles; 
  • Documentation of the various programs/activities leading to quality  improvement; 
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices; Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for  the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality; Development of Quality Culture in the institution; 
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per  guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.

FUNCTIONS 

  • To make MINORITY students aware of the different state scholarships programme. Government and central administration.
  • To act as a Grievances Redress Cell for MINORITY students’ and college staff’s grievances and provide them with the help they need to solve their academic, research and administrative problems. 
  • To organize and monitor coaching/training programmes for any competitive Examinations
  • To promote higher education among MINORITY students and staff.
  • To maintain a database of candidates belonging to MINORITY in the colleges to facilitate in placement service.

IAEC 

FUNCTIONS 

  1. The primary duty of IAEC is to work for achievement of the  objectives as mentioned above. 
  2. IAEC should focus mainly on ensuring ethical and methodical  handling of animals during and after experiments so that they have  less suffering. 
  3. IAEC will review and approve all types of protocols for research  involving small animal experimentation before the start of the  study. For the approval of experimentation on large animals, the  case is required to be forwarded to CPCSEA in a prescribed  manner with the recommendation of IAEC. 
  4. IAEC is required to monitor the research throughout the study and  after completion of the study, IAEC shall obtain periodic reports on  research development and shall ensure a visit to the animal house  facility and laboratory where the experiments are conducted. The  committee has to ensure compliance with all regulatory  requirements, applicable rules, guidelines and laws.

ALUMNI 

FUNCTIONS  

  1. President: The principal of RIPER will be ex officio President of RIPER  Alumni Association. He shall preside over all the meetings of the  Association. He is the sole in charge of the association and he shall  advise/guide on all matters pertaining to the administration of the  association. 
  2. Vice-President: The Vice Principal of RIPER will be ex officio Vice President of the Association. He has to act as a President in the absence  of the President. He coordinates with the President and Secretary in all  aspects of the association. 
  3. Secretary: He has to be elected by the general body of the association and  shall be responsible for the functioning and execution of the  administration of the association. He is responsible to run all the business  of the association. He has to maintain the records and documents of the  association. 
  4. Treasurer: He has to be elected by the members of the general body of the  association. It is the responsibility of the treasurer to maintain the  finances of the association under the supervision and guidance of the  executive committee. 
  5. Joint Secretary: He has to be elected by the members of the general body  of the association. He has to help the Secretary in all matters of the  association. He has to maintain the register of members of the  Association. 
  6. Executive Members: They shall assist the treasurer in collecting funds  from members of the association in the form of fees, donations and gifts.  They can suggest the President and Secretary in all other matters of the  association.

OBJECTIVES  

To perform collaborative and translational research and development for  delivering new pharmaceuticals/products as preventive/curative ailments against  life-threatening diseases. 

  • To undertake collaborative research projects with the goal of a seamless  transition of therapeutic molecules to clinical stages and beyond. To conduct program/training relevant to societal needs, and advancement  in research techniques for the academia and industrial personnel engaged  in the Quality Pharmaceutical deliverables. 
  • To facilitate a platform for the researchers towards their development in  innovative research, collaborations, patent filing, and publications. To frame a stable platform with reputed research organizations and  Universities from India and abroad on productive research and product  development in the context of mutual benefits.

FUNCTIONS

SPORTS 

FUNCTIONS  

  • To prepare a sports calendar and an action plan to implement the same. To suggest the methods which encourage students and faculty to utilize  sports and games facilities available in the college 
  • To take up the responsibility of preparing the budget estimate, requirement of  infrastructure equipment, and maintaining the equipment and playing fields. Selection of teams to represent the college in inter-collegiate tournaments and  also intramural tournaments. 
  • To prepare the details of attendance exemption to be given to the students  representing the college in various sports and games 
  • To increase the cordial relations between students and faculty by organizing  exhibition games between the teams of students and faculty wherever  possible.

FUNCTIONS  

  • The Cultural Committee shall be responsible for all intra and inter collegiate cultural events in the College. 
  • To plan and schedule cultural events for the academic year.  To prepare a budget for all cultural events and take necessary steps for its  approval. 
  • The Convener of the committee shall conduct a meeting of the committee  to discuss and delegate task

FUNCTIONS 

  • To plan and execute a schedule of presentations expert lectures, talks, and  workshops throughout the year. 
  • To arrange for the required type and number of reference books for  preparation for competitive exams. 
  • To look out for possible donors / sponsors’ for donating books and other  facilities for competitive exam preparation.

FUNCTIONS 

  • Understanding the community in which the volunteers work. Understanding their relationship with the community in which the  volunteers work. 
  • Identifying the needs of the community in which they work and involving the local people in their tasks. 
  • Development of social and civic responsibility in the volunteers. Use their knowledge in solving the problems of the local population in  that area. 
  • Development of competence in volunteers which is required for living in  a group and sharing responsibilities. 
  • Gain skills in organizing community participation. 
  • Acquirement of leadership qualities and democratic attitudes of the  volunteers. 
  • Development of stamina in the volunteers for emergencies and natural  disasters. 
  • The practice of integrity and national harmony by the volunteers. The motto of NSS is “not me, but you”. This motto reflects the need for selfless service. The motto underlines the fact that the welfare of an individual ultimately depends on the welfare of society. Therefore, NSS shall work for the  benefit of the whole society. National service scheme was started on 24  September in 1969, hence, every year 24th day of September is celebrated as  NSS day.
