Department of Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology was established at RIPER in the year 2010, to strengthen research and training in the area of Pharmaceutical sciences. The primary goal of the department is to teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate students in pharmacology, as per the contemporary requirements. Envisaged to impart last mile stone research through pharmaceutical research and training to the needy researchers at par with public needs and thrust area of public health research. We offer a training environment that includes the cutting edge molecular Pharmacology research laboratory and preclinical Pharmacology and toxicology laboratory supervised by experienced teachers and dedicated staff.

Department Facilities

  • CCSEA Approved animal house (Reg. No.878/PO/Re/S/05/CPCSEA) for in vivo pharmacological screening.
  • Molecular pharmacology lab equipped with PCR, Gel electrophoresis, ELISA plate reader, Trinocular stereo microscope, Denovix micro volume spectrometer, Microtome, Auto analyzer, ELISA plate reader.
  • Neuropharmacology lab equipped with Morris water maze, T maze, Y maze, Hebb Williams maze, Elevated plus maze, Hole board, Stair case, Swimming test apparatus, Open field cage, Actophotometer, Pole climbing apparatus, Hot plate, Electro convulsiometer, Radial arm maze, Rota rod apparatus.
  • Zebra fish facility
  • Human prediction toxicity, Ex- Pharm and MyCALPharm software.

  • Dr. B. Pradeep kumar received the AICTE – MODROBS on Modernization of molecular pharmacology laboratory for micro-analysis of nucleic acids in 2021 (Project cost – Rs 1459465/-)
  • Dr. Santhivardhan Chinni received the AICTE – RPS Studies on the efficacy of Rosmarinus officinalis L. and Salvia officinalis L. plant extracts against post stroke brain damage and neurological recovery in male rats in 2020.
  • Dr. B. Pradeep kumar received the AICTE -STTP on Clinical Mapping of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Biomedical and Health research in 2020.
  • Dr. K. Somasekhar Reddy received the JNTUA – FDP on Insights on translational and interdisciplinary research in modern drug discovery and development in 2019.
  • Mr. P. Muralidhar received the senior research fellowship from ICMR entitled Enhancement of oral bioavailability of multiple drugs by nanotechnology with QbD approach under guidance of Dr. K. Somasekhar Reddy in 2018.
